How the residents are connected.
Every relationship in FELTMORI started with a small moment. Here are some of the ones worth knowing about.
CHILDHOOD FRIENDS
Tsumugi & Soramame
No.01 Wool Maker × No.02 Delivery Dog
She made him first, before anyone else. He carried that piece everywhere until it wore out. Now she makes deliveries for him sometimes, and he carries the new one in his bag. They've never talked about it directly. They don't need to.
"Your pieces have warmth in them. I can feel it every time I hand one over." — Soramame
QUIETLY IN LOVE
Kinako & Maruo
No.07 Flower Seller × No.08 Fisherman
They're at the lake every morning at the same time and have never once planned it. She washes flowers, he fishes. They don't talk much. On rainy days they share the same covered spot without discussing it. Neither has made a move. Both keep showing up.
"I started liking rain because of someone at the lake. I'm not going to say more than that." — Maruo
MENTOR & STUDENT (SWITCHED)
Tsumugi & Yumeko
No.01 Wool Maker × No.12 Workshop Dancer
Yumeko dances and Tsumugi works. What Tsumugi doesn't know is that she watches Yumeko every morning and that's how she decides what to make that day. Yumeko doesn't know this either. It's better this way.
"After she dances, I know exactly what the next piece needs to be." — Tsumugi
CREATIVE RIVALS
Akane & Enoguu
No.11 Dye Maker × No.24 Rain Painter
She makes color from plants, he makes color from rain. They disagree about which is more real. They share supplies anyway. Their combined palette is unlike anything in the forest. Neither has admitted this is intentional.
"Without her colors, mine would only be half as deep. I would never tell her this." — Enoguu
THE QUIET NIGHT PAIR
Shiroshika & Kogecha
No.21 Lamp Lighter × No.22 Café Owner
Every night, Shiroshika lights the lamps outside while Kogecha's café window stays lit inside. They barely speak. But Kogecha always leaves one cup of coffee by the door, and Shiroshika always takes it. This has happened every night for years. Neither has commented on it.
"Someone leaves coffee by the door every night. I don't know who. I don't ask." — Shiroshika
GUARDIAN & DANCER
Kurio & Yukiko
No.30 Forest Guardian × No.29 Winter Dancer
Every winter, Yukiko appears and dances. Every winter, Kurio circles the forest while she does it — watching but not interfering. "She needs to feel free," he says. "But I need to make sure she's safe." Yukiko knows. She dances better because of it.
"Someone watches over me when I dance. I can't see them but I can feel it. It makes the dancing better." — Yukiko
WORDS + FLOWERS
Hanako & Kodachi
No.20 Letter Writer × No.25 Flower Seller
She finds the words. He brings the flower. Together they make the most meaningful deliveries in FELTMORI. Neither planned to be a team. It just became obvious that you need both. They're still figuring out the logistics but the results are undeniable.
"A letter without a flower feels incomplete. A flower without a letter feels uncertain. We figured that out together." — Hanako
THE SEASON KEEPERS
Shimalima & Kotori
No.28 Calendar Maker × No.23 Rainy Quarter Musician
Shimalima records the seasons in words and numbers. Kotori turns them into songs. Together they've created something like a complete portrait of the forest across time. Shimalima's notebooks go up to 40+ seasons. Kotori has a song for all of them.
"She records it. I sing it. Between us, the season doesn't disappear." — Kotori
THE WORKSHOP CORE — TRIO
Akane, Midori & Bunnbun
No.11 Dye Maker × No.14 Garden Keeper × No.15 Yarn Spinner
Midori grows the plants. Akane turns them into dye. Bunnbun spins that dye into colorful yarn. It's a complete loop — none of them could do their best work without the others. They rarely acknowledge this out loud. The workshop just works better when all three are there, and everyone knows it.
"We didn't plan to be a team. We just couldn't figure out how to work without each other." — Bunnbun, probably speaking for all three
THE FOUR SEASONS — QUARTET
Kinako, Hananee, Kodachi & Nanoka
No.07 Lakeside × No.16 Workshop × No.25 Seasonal Forest × No.26 Wild Forest
Four flower-handlers from four different parts of FELTMORI. Kinako washes lake flowers, Hananee arranges workshop flowers, Kodachi sells seasonal flowers, Nanoka finds wild forest flowers. Every spring they end up in the same field at the same time without planning it. They've stopped being surprised. They just bring extra tea now.
"We're not supposed to be a group. But every spring, there we are again." — Kinako
